Salvation Army kicks off annual kettle drive

BROOKLYN - The Salvation Army is holding a Non-Stop Giving Day today to launch its annual holiday-kettle drive.

The organization is asking everyone to give money for those in need today.

The Salvation Army also rolled out new high-tech ways to donate this year. The charity is urging people to host their own online red kettle or to text in a donation by sending 'NYSA' to 52000.

Seventy-five percent of all donations will go toward the Salvation Army and 25 percent to the Food Bank of New York City.
