'Saving Teens in Crisis' workshop held for grandparents in BK

BROOKLYN - Grandparents who have become parents to their teenaged grandchildren were grouped together today for a "Saving Teens in Crisis" workshop.

The workshop is aimed at distributing helpful information to elderly residents who have become parents once again, often after their own children become sick, incarcerated or pass away.

Many of the attending grandparents say they have a difficult time keeping up with teenagers and learning to monitor new technology such as Facebook and text messages.

The workshop is held twice a year at Long Island University's Brooklyn campus.
