Scholarships awarded to 2 students in memory of fallen alumnus

BROOKLYN - Eric McDuffie and Rollet Hurry, two students from Medgar Evans College Preparatory High School, will receive scholarships in memory of a slain graduate.

Brent Duncan was shot and killed a year ago while heading to a barbecue in Brooklyn.

The two students had to write an essay about Duncan's life and what they would do to reduce violence in the community.

"The fact that I got it in his name is even better because even though he didn't get to live his dream of a college," said Rollet Hurry. "I am going to try my best to live it through me what he wanted to do."
