School janitor charged with rape, sexual abuse

BROOKLYN - Police say a janitor at an East Flatbush school was arrested for rape and sexual abuse last night.

Police say Ambiorix Rodriguez, 32, had sexual encounters with a 13-year-old girl from Sept. 2010 - Jan. 2011 in the basement of the school.

Rodriguez was assigned as a janitor to the Public School of Marketing and Legal Studies. The school building houses several other schools within it and has about 650 students from grades six to 12.

Rodriguez has been charged with rape, sexual abuse and a criminal sex act.

Department of Education (DOE) officials say Rodriguez was fired today and placed on the ineligible list, meaning he can never work in a DOE building again.
