NEW YORK - The NYPD is searching the city and asking for help locating a missing 96-year-old Bronx woman with dementia.

Jessie Thompson was spotted on surveillance video getting on the M100 bus at 125th Street and Saint Nicholas Avenue in Harlem Sunday, more than five miles from where she walked out of the Jewish Life Care Center on West Kingsbridge Road earlier that day.

A viewer now claims to have seen Thompson at a store in downtown Manhattan. The woman says she remembered seeing the elderly woman after recognizing the black hat with white flowers she has been pictured wearing.

Everyone is being reminded that the M100 bus Thompson boarded runs between Inwood and East Harlem in Manhattan, and that she could've gotten off at any of the stops along the route. Anyone who thinks they may have seen her should call police.

The state's Health Department has also launched its own investigation into how Thompson was able to leave the nursing home.
