EAST NEW YORK - Officials are working to upgrade security for the residents of the Louis Pink Houses in East New York following last night's shootings and a stabbing that left one man dead.

Police say three people were shot, one of them fatally, and another person was stabbed in the lobby of the housing complex.

The New York City Housing Authority says City Councilman Charles Barron has allotted $550,000 for the Pink Houses to boost security by installing surveillance cameras. The agency says the contracts are currently in the award stage and installation should begin in 2012.
