Sen. Gillibrand vows battle to keep Fort Hamilton open

FORT HAMILTON - Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) visited the United States Army's Fort Hamilton today and vowed to wage a fight to protect the fort from any possible closure.

Gillibrand said the fort is necessary in case of a future terror attack, where it could act as a base of operations for military and federal officials.

She also highlighted the importance of the fort to the local economy, saying $200 million a year would be lost if it closes.
