(09/27/10) BROOKLYN - The Serbian basketball player accused of nearly killing a college student from Brooklyn has pleaded guilty.

Miladin Kovacevic, 23, confessed to beating Brooklyn college student Bryan Steinhauer into a coma in May 2008 at a bar. Police arrested him, but he jumped bail and fled to Serbia and then refused to return to the states. U.S. Attorneys have been trying to extradite him but that process has strained U.S.-Serbia relations.

His guilty plea is part of a plea bargain. Kovacevic will spend two years in a Serbian prison for his crime.
