Sheepshead Bay mosque to move forward with plans

The developer of the controversial mosque and community center planned to be built in Sheepshead Bay says he has been given approval from the city

BROOKLYN - The developer of the controversial mosque and community center planned to be built in Sheepshead Bay says he has been given approval from the city to move forward with his plans.

Last week, the Department of Buildings asked for more clarification on how the mosque will be used, temporarily stalling the project.

Some neighbors say they are against the mosque because they feel there will be loud calls to prayer and extra traffic as a result.

The developer says he is not sure when construction will begin.
