Shop owners: Construction causes decline in business

BENSONHURST - Several business owners in Bensonhurst are claiming that construction of the 20th Avenue bridge is affecting their bottom line.

Business owners say that due to the construction there are limited parking spots and one lane of traffic each way. They say those factors are preventing them from conducting business with their patrons.

The Department of Transportation says that the access to stores has not been hindered by the walkway leading to them. The construction project, which started in May of 2006, was supposed to be finished a month ago.
