NEW YORK - New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo's approval rating has improved, giving him substantial leads over two potential challengers in this year's election, according to a new poll.

The Siena College poll shows that 54 percent of New York voters surveyed rate Cuomo's job performance as good or excellent, which is up from 44 percent of respondents who rated the Democrat that way last November.

The governor was viewed favorably by 66 percent of pollsters, which is also a boost from November.

The poll found Cuomo with leads of 48 points in matchups with two potential Republican candidates for governor. Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino and Donald Trump are both said to be considering a run for office.
