BROOKLYN - Students on spring break this week got to burn off some energy at the Lefrak Center at Lakeside in Prospect Park.

About 250 children from across the city put on skates to participate in the city's annual Skate Day.

The event was hosted by the Department of Youth and Community Development.

"We're very committed that when schools are closed, working families have somewhere that their kids can be safe and also learn something and have fun," says Bill Chong, of the Department of Youth and Community Development.
