Small biz program to boost Bed-Stuy

BROOKLYN - A new city program is looking to boost business in a high-traffic area of Brooklyn.

The Department of Small Business Services launched a Neighborhood Retail Leasing Program to attract new and expanding businesses to the city's neighborhood commercial districts.

Bed-Stuy is one of several areas chosen for an 8-month pilot program to provide assistance to business owners, foster neighborhood growth and introduce employers to a skilled local workforce.

The program began in January.
