Smart Cards make NYC subway debut

BROOKLYN - Smart Cards made their debut in New York City subways as part of a pilot program by the city.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority debuted the cards on the 4, 5, 6 trains and certain buses. Riders in the pilot program will simply wave a specially equipped key chain, credit card or even their cell-phone across an electronic reader.

The money will automatically be debited from bank or credit card accounts.
