Some BK neighborhoods struggling with melting snow

WILLIAMSBURG - Slow snow removal and the deliberate placement of snow near strong sewer lines are causing traffic problems throughout the borough.

The snow on Vandervoort Avenue in Williamsburg has been melting for more than a week, but the street is still closed. Cars and trucks are piled up onto nearby Morgan Avenue, causing major congestion.

The Department of Sanitation always uses the area since the sewer lines can manage large amounts of runoff. However, business owners say the process has never taken this long and that they are suffering as a result.

Sanitation officials say crews are finishing up the final two blocks in anticipation of more snow this weekend.
