BAY RIDGE - Some Brooklyn residents say they spent the early hours of their Thanksgiving holiday shopping at stores that offered big sales ahead of Black Friday.

Shoppers flocked to the Gap in Bay Ridge to take advantage of Black Friday deals without the hassle of big crowds. The manager at the Gap says the decision to remain open on Thanksgiving was all about meeting customer demands.

However, some residents say they feel stores that open on Thanksgiving, among them Walmart, Gap and Target, are starting the Black Friday frenzy too soon.

Those opposed to the early Black Friday deals say it takes away from the spirit of the holiday.
