Some Brooklyn tax filers eligible for whopping $6,000 return

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS - Some Brooklyn taxpayers could have a whopping $6,000 tax return coming their way, according to city officials.

The mayor's office and other city agencies say many tax filers are unaware that they qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit. Families that make less than $38,000 annually may be eligible, whether or not they have children.

Brooklyn has 11 free tax preparation sites, which filers can call 311 to learn about. Taxpayers can also call 311 to find out if they qualify.
