CONEY ISLAND - Some Luna Park residents say their affordable housing won't be affordable if the complex goes private. The buildings board of directors wants to privatize the five buildings by turning the co-op into a condo. Residents say many who live in the Coney Island complex rely on Section 8 funding and they cannot afford the extra $50,000 to buy their unit. Tenants will hold a meeting in October to try to remove the board of directors.
