Some health care provisions take effect

BROOKLYN - Provisions to the health care act President Obama signed into law in March will go into effect for some people today.

Changes to health care coverage will not immediately apply to everyone, but those with plans starting today and tomorrow will see many of the new requirements. For others, the changes will not take place until Jan. 1 when many plans begin.

Some of the law's changes include preventing insurers from denying coverage to children and allowing parents to keep young adults on their insurance plans until age 26.

As the law begins, many Republicans say they will continue efforts to stop the reform sighting increased costs for both business and individuals.
