PARK SLOPE - Park Slope drivers who were lucky enough to nab coveted parking spots are praising the suspension of parking rules during the holidays.
The city suspended alternate-side-of-the-street parking from Tuesday, April 3 through Friday, April 6 and Monday, April 9 through Tuesday, April 10. The changes are in effect for Passover, Holy Thursday and Good Friday.
Several drivers say the Department of Transportation is helping them spend the holidays close to relatives without the interruption of having to move their vehicles for streets to be cleaned. Others argue drivers who get the spots aren't budging, leaving people to circle city streets in search of parking.
Parking rules will be back in effect Wednesday, April 11. The DOT explains the suspension is especially long because the holidays fell close together this year.
