Sources: 2 off-duty cops involved in shooting at Kensington bar

BROOKLYN - At least two off-duty police officers were involved in a brawl at a Kensington bar this morning, with shots fired from an officer's gun sending a victim to the hospital.

According to the NYPD, two off-duty officers were assaulted during the brawl at a bar on McDonald Avenue, which started after an altercation between the officers and a patron.

One account says the patron wrestled a gun from one of the officers and fired. However, another witness claims the officers pistol-whipped the patron, who then fired the gun in self-defense after it fell to the ground. A weapon was recovered at around 10 a.m. on the roof of a nearby business, but it is unknown how it got up there.

The 26-year-old victim is in stable condition, recovering at Lutheran Medical Center from gunshot wounds to the torso. The NYPD says it's investigating the case and the officers' actions.

Six people have been arrested for questioning in connection to the incident.
