BROOKLYN - Brooklyn residents lined the streets Sunday for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which kicked off at 15th Street and Prospect Park West.

The Brooklyn Irish-American parade committee says this year marks the 42nd parade since it began in 1976.

Organizers say the parade is a celebration of the Irish heritage and Irish-Americans’ service to this country.

They say this year they are honoring those who fought at the Battle of Brooklyn.
