BROOKLYN - The Starlight Children's Foundation is partnering with Bike New York to teach children with chronic illnesses how to ride a bicycle.

Children from throughout the tri-state area participated in the class. Professional bicycle instructors taught them how to put on a helmet, balance themselves and ride a bike.

The children in the class sometimes spend days, weeks or even months in the hospital at a time due to their illnesses.

Organizers say these activities help bring joy to the children, and one participant from Brooklyn called it a thrill.

The organizers also say they hope the bicycle class will become an annual event for Starlight.
