BROOKLYN - A boxing program in East New York is helping give students a fighting chance.

The Starrett City Boxing Club encourages discipline and self-esteem, and helps keep high school kids off the streets. However, the gym is also in need of some help expanding its youth training program.

Owners say they need more funding to hire staff, social workers and counselors so that it can provide mentoring and tutoring services with boxing lessons.

The nonprofit group Fight for Peace and the clothing brand Luta have already stepped into the ring to help Starrett City.
