State Assembly candidate on damage control after offensive mailer

BROOKLYN - A candidate running for state Assembly in Brooklyn is on damage control after an error was found in a campaign mailer.

Friends of Ben Akselrod released a mailer in the Sheepshead Bay area that used the word "negrohood" instead of "neighborhood."

Akselrod says he takes full responsibility for the mistake, and apologizes to anyone who was offended

Asselrod is trying to unseat Assemblyman Steven Cymbrowitz in the Democratic primary on Sept. 13.
