BAY RIDGE - The recently passed state budget has restored funding to Brooklyn's senior centers.

Local seniors say they are relieved that the centers won't be shut down.  They say it wasn't looking so well a few weeks ago when the huge state budget deficit put senior centers on the chopping block.

They say they fought hard for the funding, including protests and a letter-writing campaign to Albany lawmakers.

State lawmakers heard the Brooklyn seniors' message and restored money to the centers.
