BROOKLYN - A state senator is calling on the MTA to make subway stations more accessible for the handicapped after an elderly woman says she had difficulty getting around a Brooklyn subway station.

Ruth Auerbach, 87, who's visiting family from Israel, says she found it almost impossible to get to the subway platform at the Smith and 9th Street subway stop. Auerbach and her group walked up escalators and steps because the station had limited elevator access.

State Sen. Eric Adams says he has not heard back from the MTA about his requests.
