BROOKLYN - The Buildings Department has issued a stop work order at a Sheepshead Bay construction site after a worker was seriously hurt on the job.

Fire crews responded to the corner of East 23rd Street and Avenue X yesterday afternoon to rescue the worker from a deep trench.

Officials say the worker is in serious but stable condition at Kings County Hospital.

The Buildings Department has ordered the site to be filled and secured. It has also issued several violations against the construction company.
