BROOKLYN - Local business owners say the Barclays Center has done wonders for their revenue since the arena opened last September.

Hundreds of musical acts have performed at the venue, bringing an influx of money and foot traffic to surrounding stores and restaurants. With the MTV Video Music Awards coming into town this weekend, the trend is likely to remain the same.

"We always bulk up on staff on big nights and I'm pretty sure that's going to be a really big night here," says Joshua Sharkey, owner of Bark, a hot dog restaurant. "They're closing off a lot of the streets around here."

The awards show is scheduled for this Sunday, Aug. 25 at 9 p.m.
