Stores: Park Slope bike-part thefts on the rise

PARK SLOPE - Security cameras and a cable lock were not enough to stop a robber who recently stole a bike from a rack in Park Slope.

Jason Liszkiweicz says his bicycle was recently stolen and it appears to be one of many going on in the neighborhood. Bike store owners say they?ve noticed an increase in thefts of bikes and bike parts.

Other bike victims say that as the city encourages more to ride, enforcement hasn't increased. Police suggest riders register bikes, so they could track it if it gets stolen.
