Storm causes flooding on Brooklyn streets

BROOKLYN - A pre-winter storm moved through the tri-state area Wednesday, unleashing torrential rain and howling winds that turned the morning commute into a nightmare for Brooklyn residents.

Heavy rains turned the left lane of Belt Parkway in the Bay Ridge area into a stream, making driving conditions hazardous and leading to accidents.

Despite the danger, many drivers headed out to take advantage of mid-week holiday sales at local stores.

"You can never get enough done in time ," says motorist Christine Rubino.
