NEW YORK - The Straphangers Campaign is taking a look back at the year in mass transit.

The transportation advocacy group released its list of the top 10 best and worst events to impact the city's subways and buses in 2013.

Coming in as the worst event is the March fare hike, which state Comptroller Thomas Dinapoli said was twice the rate of inflation. Close behind is the more than $4 billion price tag to fix and fortify the transit system in response to Superstorm Sandy.

The group says that the best transit event of the year is the MTA cutting a planned fare increase for 2015 by nearly half, followed by MTA Chair Tom Prendergast taking the helm and the expansion of Select Bus Service.
