The third annual "State of the Platforms Report" from the Straphangers Campaign says 15 percent of Brooklyn subway platforms have rats.

The group checked 862 subway platforms this summer. It says that 81 percent of stations in the borough have peeling paint, along with water damage.

The MTA released a statement saying, "The items in the Straphangers report highlight elements that would be extremely costly to keep in perfect condition and would do little, if anything to either improve service or make stations safer. We have to prioritize projects using available funds to address the most pressing needs first."
