(08/03/06) CANARSIE ? A 6-month-old Brooklyn baby was rushed to the hospital early Thursday morning after gunshots tore through the front door of a family?s apartment.

Police say a total of three bullets ripped through the front door of the apartment on 100th and 2nd streets. One of the shots grazed the baby, who was taken to Brookdale Hospital for treatment. Investigators aren?t sure if the gunfire was random or if the family members inside the apartment were the intended victims.

Residents say early morning gunshots have become an all too common occurrence in the neighborhood. According to neighbors, the intense heat of late is contributing to an increase in violent acts. The baby is expected to make a full recovery from her injuries.
