BROOKLYN - Police have reported several shootings that took place overnight in Brooklyn.

One occurred on Rockaway Avenue and Livonia Avenue at around 1 a.m. One person was shot in the torso and taken to Brookdale Hospital in critical condition.

Another shooting occurred on Fenimore Street in Prospect Lefferts Garden, where police say two men in their 20s were shot shortly before 12 a.m. Police say one was hit in the leg and the other in the wrist. They were both taken to Kings County Hospital and are expected to survive.

A man was also shot in the leg and torso on Mermaid Avenue at about 1:15 a.m. He is also expected to be OK.

Residents say that shootings like these have become part of life in these areas.

Community advocate Tony Herbert says the amount of violence in the area is unacceptable. He also says that people in the area have become too comfortable with violent behavior. Herbert says people are committing violent crimes because they think they can get away with it and the only way to stop it is for the community to pull together.

All of the shootings remain under investigation, police say.
