BROOKLYN - Some Brownsville students are trying to spread the word on the importance of being safe on the road.

Since November, eighth-graders at P.S./I.S. 298 have been brainstorming ideas on how to address local traffic issues.

The students teamed up with the Department of Transportation to create signs about road safety.

The signs, which inform drivers to keep their eyes on the road and put down cellphones, were unveiled this morning along Watkins and Pitkins avenues.
