MILL BASIN - A new study by the New York Metropolitan Transportation Council found that transportation improvements are needed in southern Brooklyn.

The four-year study evaluated the efficiency of bus and subway services as well as street conditions. Analysts say the study found Brooklyn residents have two main concerns -- transit services and congestion. In addition to finding out concerns, the council then developed transportation alternatives for testing and evaluation.

Based on the findings, the study recommends increasing service on particular bus routes, maintaining and expanding certain subway lines and improving bike and pedestrian paths in some neighborhoods. Both the findings and recommendations have been forwarded to the appropriate transit agencies.
