BROOKLYN - The skies opened suddenly around 3 p.m. today forcing people to abandon their outside activities and run for shelter.

Cars splashed through puddles as they sped by and bikers attempted to flee the rain. Those who were walking, struggled with their umbrellas in the wind.

The storm left hundreds without power.
