Suit: Cops used excessive force on students

BROOKLYN - Five students say they were physically assaulted by school safety officers at Lou Gehrig J.H.S. last year.

The students filed a federal lawsuit along with the New York Civil Liberties Union against the New York Police Department claiming officers used excessive force.

The NYCLU called for a complete overhaul in disciplining students at city schools. The overhaul would include allowing administrators to handle discipline.

The NYPD asserts the allegations are false.
