Summer jobs just a click away for BK, city youths

BROOKLYN - Getting a summer job just got a lot easier for Brooklyn youths.

For the first time, applications are available online for the Summer Youth Employment Program. Organizers say young people used to have to apply in person. The program is open to people between the ages of 14 and 21. About 40,000 people are employed each year through SYEP. The deadline to apply is May 18.

Many people say they would like to see the program operate year-round.
