Suspect shot in Flatbush armed robbery investigation faces charges

FLATBUSH - A man who police officers shot while they investigated a suspected armed robbery in Flatbush is facing charges Thursday.

Authorities say cops approached four men Wednesday on East 29th Street and Farragut Road after they were tipped off that the men were going to commit armed robbery. Officers arrested three suspects, but they say 22-year-old Omari Hasan gave chase and pulled out a gun. Cops say that?s when they shot Hasan, hitting him in the leg. The suspect was arrested after he was trapped between a patrol car and an officer. Police say they recovered a second gun from another suspect.

Workers in the area say while the sound of sirens is familiar, the incident shook them to the core. Businesses were shut down for hours as investigators scoured the area for clues.
