BROOKLYN - The mother of the 3-year-old boy thrown to his death says the boy's father killed the boy and himself out of spite.

Authorities say Dmitriy Kanarikov, of Mill Basin, threw his son Kirill off a 52-story building in Manhattan before jumping himself.

Dmitriy and Svetlana Kanarikov were in the middle of a custody battle. In a statement through a lawyer, Svetlana says Dmitriy never did anything violent against the child before, and Sunday was the first unsupervised visit.

Kanarikov allegedly told his parents he was taking Kirill to Grand Central Station.

Instead, they went to a building on the Upper West Side, where he killed himself and his son.
