BROOKLYN - The United Federation of Teachers (UFT) organized a day of fun to help students get their minds off the devastation surrounding Superstorm Sandy.

The event was held at MCU Park while students were off from school for Veterans Day. Many kids who have been displaced from their schools or homes enjoyed face-painting and a magic show.

Teachers not only volunteered, but they also donated school supplies. The UFT says thousands of backpacks have been put together since Saturday morning for students in need.
