NEW YORK - A 19-year-old was arrested Monday after police say he shot an NYPD officer assigned to Mayor Bill de Blasio's security detail with a pellet gun in front of Gracie Mansion.

Police say Michael Veritsky is facing various charges including assaulting a police officer with a deadly weapon.

Officials say the officer was getting out of an unmarked police car when she felt pain in her lower back.

She was taken to a hospital where she was treated and released.

Authorities say the mayor was not home at the time.
