BROOKLYN - A teenager is expected to survive after being shot late Friday night.

The 19-year-old victim was shot at the corner of New Lots and Sheffield avenues around 11:40 p.m.

Officials say a ShotSpotter activation alerted police to the scene.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found that the teen had been shot in the arm. He told officials that he got into an argument with a random man when the suspect pulled out a gun and shot him.

The victim was taken to Brookdale Hospital and is expected to be OK.

Police say the suspect was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt.
