Tenants at the Pink Houses in East New York complain of trash pileup

Residents say the building's dumpsters have been overflowing since November. (3/3/14)

EAST NEW YORK - Residents at the Pink Houses in East New York say garbage is piling up around their building, and they want something to be done about it.

Garbage is piled up around the NYCHA complex because the dumpsters are all overflowing. Tenants say it's been like this since around Thanksgiving and the odor from the garbage can be smelled from inside the lobby and elevators.

NYCHA workers say they've been cleaning up the debris, but the Department of Sanitation hasn't come by to pick anything up. The Department of Sanitation has yet to respond to News 12 Brooklyn's request for comment, but reportedly have fallen behind on trash pickup because of the weather.
