BROOKLYN - Wicked winter weather is bearing down on New York City, and News 12 wants to remind you of heat guidelines your landlord must follow.

The indoor temperature is required to be at least 68 degrees between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. if it's below 55 degrees outside.

During the overnight hours, it must be at least 55 degrees in your apartment if it's below 40 degrees outdoors.

Residents who think their landlord is not complying with the heat guidelines should first talk with their building manager. If that doesn't work, they should file a complaint by calling 311.
