WILLIAMSBURG - Thieves cut down a tree in the middle of the night to steal a bicycle in Williamsburg last Tuesday.

The bike owner says that he locked the bike to the tree because the bike racks in the area were occupied.

Residents claim that it took the community two years to get the tree planted.

City officials say that it's illegal to lock bikes to city property.
