BAY RIDGE - The fire marshal says an investigation is under way to determine the causeof the four-alarm fire that destroyed several buildings on Third Avenue Wednesday night.

The blaze engulfed apartment buildings, a neighborhood deli and another nearby business. The fire allegedlyspread through the deli and three floors of apartments directly above.

Everyone escaped safely, although several suffered minor injuries.

The Red Cross says they are offering to help anyone who was forced to evacuate their homes.
