BROOKLYN - After a seemingly never ending winter, thousands of people have flocked to the beaches for the unofficial kickoff to summer. 

Coney Island is among the busiest waterfront spots in the borough this Memorial Day, attracting people from all around the city. 

Visitors not only set up in the sand, but also quickly filled up the boardwalk and the rides. 

Beachgoers say they enjoy spending the holiday in the sun with their family and friends.
